How we make money

The short version

CompareLocal.ca is free for you. Some of the vendors we compare pay us a referral fee when you choose them, and some product links are affiliate links that pay us a commission. That's the whole business. It never changes what you pay, and it never buys a better ranking.

The three rules we never break

1. We never pose as a vendor.We are an independent research site. We don't install roofs, heat pumps, or water systems — we compare the people who do.
2. Your inquiry goes to one company — the one you pick. Much of the lead-generation industry sells your phone number to four or more bidders who all call you for weeks. We will never do that. You choose one vendor; only they hear from us.
3. Fees are disclosed before any introduction. Referral partners are marked in every table, and our assistant tells you about the fee before connecting you — not in a footnote afterward.

Why non-partners appear in our tables

Every comparison includes vendors who don't pay us anything. If the best option for your situation is a company we earn nothing from, that's the one we'll point to. An honest table is the product — the fees only work if you can trust the table.

How we choose local pros

A vendor appears in our comparisons only after we verify the business first-hand: service area confirmed, Google and HomeStars reviews checked and counted on the date shown, pricing ranges gathered from real local quotes and stamped with the month we verified them. When something is unverified, we show a dash — never a guess.
