For a Canadian homeowner looking at a salt-stained driveway after an Ontario winter, a cottage deck gone green with algae, or a car crusted in road grime and well-water mineral spots. The nine pressure washers below split into three groups by what you actually have to work with: corded electric units (1850–2050 PSI) for a car, deck, or patio set where an outdoor outlet is close by; gas units (3000–3400 PSI) with real engine power for a driveway, vinyl siding, or farm equipment; and cordless battery units (320–800 PSI) for a boat, cottage dock, or RV with no outlet or tap within reach at all. One honest caveat up front: the PSI number on every box, including every one below, is almost always the manufacturer's "Max PSI at initial discharge" figure, not a sustained operating pressure — two machines with the same rated PSI can clean noticeably differently once the trigger's been held for a minute. For a driveway or garage floor specifically, a $45 surface cleaner attachment (linked below) usually does more for the result than chasing another few hundred PSI, since its spinning jets clean evenly instead of leaving the overlap streaks a wand does.

  • Westinghouse PWSC12 12" Surface Cleaner Attachment

On a driveway or garage floor, a surface cleaner's dual rotating jets clean up to 4x faster than sweeping a wand back and forth and leave no streaks — the single biggest upgrade for any electric unit in this table, more effective than chasing extra PSI. Electric units only — not for the gas washers above.

  • McKillans Foam Cannon (Wide Mouth)

  • AR Blue Clean AR64511 Pressure Washer Pump Saver (16 oz)

Ontario winters crack an unprotected pump: this anti-freeze and lubricant solution, made by AR (Annovi Reverberi, the Italian pump manufacturer behind most of the pumps in this category), protects to -25°F and should run through any gas or electric unit here before its first winter in storage.

  • Simpson 80151 Replacement O-Ring and Filter Kit

A quick-connect coupling that drips or a clogged inlet filter is the most common failure point on any pressure washer in this table — this universal kit's five O-ring sizes and two filters fit guns, hoses, wands, and pump connections on both gas and electric units.

How we chose

We open every retailer's own Amazon.ca listing ourselves and read the price, PSI, GPM, motor or engine spec, and hose length off it before it appears here — see each row's verification source for the exact listing and the date, all checked 2026-10-06. Where a listing doesn't state a figure at all, most often warranty length on the cheaper electric and cordless units, we say "not stated on this listing" plainly rather than guess or carry over a competitor's number; only the two Honda-engine Champion gas units and the Westinghouse and Greenworks electric units actually publish a warranty term. We are not electricians or plumbers: every corded electric washer in this table needs a grounded, GFCI-protected outlet since it's spraying water right next to a live motor, and if your home's outdoor outlets predate the 1970s or aren't GFCI-protected, that's an electrician's job before a pressure washer's. Many Ontario properties — wells especially, but plenty of municipal supplies too — run hard water, and hard water leaves its own mineral spotting on a freshly rinsed car or siding that no amount of extra PSI fixes; if that's the actual problem rather than loose dirt, see our water treatment installer link below rather than buying a bigger washer. Winter storage is the other place these machines fail that a bigger PSI number won't prevent: any water left in the pump over an Ontario winter can freeze and crack it, so every gas or electric unit here should either be fully drained or run through with a pump-saver antifreeze (linked below) before it goes into an unheated garage or shed for the season.

Frequently asked questions

What PSI do I actually need for my driveway, deck, or car?

For a car, patio furniture, or a wood or composite deck, 1600–2300 PSI (any electric unit in our table) is plenty, and more PSI on these delicate surfaces mainly raises the risk of stripping paint, gouging soft wood, or cracking composite decking rather than cleaning better. For a concrete or asphalt driveway, garage floor, or vinyl/aluminum siding, 2800–3400 PSI (our gas group) clears ground-in dirt and oil stains in a fraction of the passes an electric unit needs. For a driveway specifically, a $45 surface cleaner attachment (linked below the table) usually matters more than another few hundred PSI, since its spinning jets clean the whole surface evenly instead of leaving the streaky overlap lines a wand does.

Is the PSI number on the box the pressure I'll actually get while cleaning?

No, and this trips up a lot of first-time buyers. Almost every pressure washer, including every one in this table, states a "Max PSI" figure measured at the instant the trigger is first pulled, before the engine or motor settles into steady running — the sustained working pressure while you're actually cleaning is lower, often by 10–20%. GPM (gallons per minute) matters at least as much as PSI for how fast a job actually goes: two washers with identical PSI but different GPM will clean noticeably differently, and our spec table lists both for exactly that reason.

Can I use an electric pressure washer outdoors safely, and does it need a special outlet?

Yes, but every electric unit in this table needs a grounded, GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupter) protected outlet — several, including the Sun Joe and Greenworks, ship with GFCI built right into the power cord's plug as an extra safeguard. We are not electricians: if your home's exterior outlets are older than roughly the 1970s, or you're not sure whether they're GFCI-protected, that's worth a licensed electrician's look before plugging in any of these, since you're spraying water next to a live corded motor. Never use a household extension cord rated below the washer's amperage, and never run a cord through standing water.

How do I winterize a pressure washer for an Ontario garage or shed?

Water left sitting in the pump is what cracks it over a cold winter, not the cold air itself, so the fix is getting every drop out before freezing weather hits. The simplest approach is running the washer dry: disconnect the water supply, pull the trigger until no more water comes out, then disconnect the hose and let gravity drain the pump for a few minutes. A pump-saver antifreeze and lubricant solution like the one linked below the table is a cheap extra layer of protection beyond draining alone, and several manufacturers recommend it specifically before long off-season storage. For a gas unit, also run the engine dry of fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, the same as you would for a snow blower or lawn mower going into storage.

Is a cordless battery pressure washer actually useful, or just a novelty?

It depends entirely on what you're cleaning and where. At 320–800 PSI, both cordless units in our table are far below even the lightest electric washer, so neither one will touch a driveway, deck, or siding job in a reasonable amount of time. Where they genuinely earn their price is anywhere a corded electric or gas unit simply can't go: a boat at a dock with no shore power, a cottage with no outdoor outlet near the water, an RV site, or rinsing off camping gear miles from any outlet — both units in our table can draw water straight from a bucket, rain barrel, or lake instead of needing a hose bib at all.
